The Japan Karate Association (JKA) is the worlds largest and most prestigious Karate organisation, and is the preserver of the highest tradition. The great masters of JKA paved the way to today's Karate.
The Japan Karate Association Australia inc. was incorporated in 2010 and is one of the leading JKA Karate organisations in Australia. We have hundreds of members participating at our branches (Dojo's) which are located at varies locations around Australia. JKA Australia teaches traditional JKA Shotokan style Karate. Standards taught are of the highest level in keeping with the technical requirements set by the JKA HQ in Japan. The purpose of JKA Australia is to develop and promote Shotokan Karate in Australia. All JKA instructors are certified by JKA HQ based in Tokyo Japan in keeping with the technical requirements set. Our goal is to maintain these standards, to grow students to their maximum potential.
The Dojo Kun was developed by senior JKA instructors. It is a set of 5 guiding principles which students recite out loud at the end of every training class. This aims to remind students of the right attitude, frame of mind and virtues to strive for both within the dojo and outside. Below are the five guiding principles from the Dojo Kun.
